Comanche Heart Catherine Anderson 9780061040689 Books
I read this book for the first time in my teens in the 90’s. It was deep and pain filled and it caught my young heart. I reread this story over and over again for years but then I stopped and forgot about it. Recently I have been repurchasing as many of my old books that I can remember and this one I remembered clearly. This book isn’t as dated in writing style as a lot of books from that time. And Catherine Anderson is a wonderful writer even in her later contemporary romances.
This book holds a special place for me because I could taste the pain in the writing. Granted while I felt Amy was a perpetual victim and her healing was oversimplified the writing was gripping right from the start. The dialogue and interplay between Amy and Swift had me riveted and I couldn’t wait for the HEA. Books of that era HEA’s weren’t always a guarantee.
I would have liked an epilogue showing their happiness after all their struggles but all I’ve ever gotten was a couple of passing mentions of this couple in the later books of this series. I never thought that gave this book the justice it deserved since I felt it was the best of the 4.
I’m glad I have this book again. A Classic Romance Novel.

Comanche Heart Catherine Anderson 9780061040689 Books Reviews
This was definitely my favorite book of the Comanche series. I absolutely love Swift. He is, in my opinion, the best hero of any romance novel I have read. This story picks up 15 years after Comanche Moon ended. Loretta and Hunter are in this novel as well. I loved that this book gave closure to their story, and then sets up the scene for more stories in this series. Amy and Swift go through so much to be together, and the ending is dynamic. This book kept me at the edge of my seat, hoping that they would make it in the end. Swift is the most kind and loving character. He does everything in his power to prove himself to Amy. It is a must read. I would recommend it to anyone that loves to read. Unlike other romance novels, this isn't full of the cheesy and flowery language. It reads just like any other novel, with just a little bit of a romantic edge. It makes the whole thing seem so much more realistic and better in the end. I love that at the end of this story, I felt like I actually knew the characters
Read it!!!!
Edited to add that after reading this almost 5 years ago it is still my favorite romance of all time. It still invokes a lot of emotion whenever I reread it and if I could only pick 5 books to read for the rest of my life this would be one of them. I have read some of the other reviews and I noticed that some of the negative reviews talk about why Amy couldn't just see that Swift was the same person who loved her. Every time I read this book again I see more and more how time separated the two and only a lot of work to rediscover their love could bring them together. And yes, unfortunately it was harder for Amy since she was a survivor of sexual assault and abuse. I would hardly call her weary attitude and initial dislike of Swift a reason to dislike the book. The two were separated for 15 years. If anything, it makes me love it even more because we see how much Swift loves her and is willing to sacrifice for her. I adore this book and always recommend it to anyone who likes romance novels.
Wow this book was really good! I just finished this book after starting it this morning. I literally could not put it down. After hearing the beginning of Amy's story in "Comanche Moon", I couldn't wait to see what other adventures she had been through in this book. In my opinion, this book is better than it's predecessor (this is the second book in the series). Amy wasn't anywhere near as annoying as Loretta was in "Comanche Moon" and she didn't pull half the stunts either. Again, just my opinion, though.
Amy has blossomed into a beautiful young woman and moved to Oregon to be closer to Hunter and Loretta. Swift Antelope (now known as Swift Lopez) has been fighting alongside other Comanche warriors for the last twelve years. He finally seeks to fulfill his promise to Amy to come for her at her stepfather's house. Upon arriving, he's told that Amy has died of Cholera. Heartbroken, he roams for another three years before heading to Oregon to see Hunter, Loretta, and their children (Chase and Indigo, the subjects of books three and four in the series). He arrives in town to discover that Amy is alive and well. Amy has been through a lot in her short life, leading her to be wary of all men, but especially Swift, who has been riding with the Comancheros. (I won't give anything away, but if you've read "Comanche Moon" then you know why this is significant.) The book is Amy and Swift's story of reuniting and learning to trust in one another yet. They've loved one another all along and want to be together, but ghosts from their past threaten to keep them apart.
The book left me laughing at some parts (like the apple pie scene and the window) and in tears during some parts. There's a part where Swift is trying to be noble and ease Amy's burden by leaving and when she goes running after him nearly broke my heart. Amy is vulnerable, having been through a lot in the past, but she's not overly whiny and, which can get quickly annoying in a book. Amy truly has a Comanche heart. This is such an awesome book and one that I will read again. I highly recommend it.
